Whimsy catches a mighty wave on laid-back Folly Beach, where fun and funky cottages and a coastal-casual vibe set a tone that is certain to adjust any attitude. Surfers can be spotted year-round riding superior swells at locales like The Washout, as are others relishing a stroll or casting a pole along the newly reconstructed Folly Beach Fishing Pier.
How To Get There
From Downtown
From Calhoun St., continue onto SC-30 W
Use any lane to turn left onto State Hwy 171
Turn right onto W Arctic Ave
Folly Beach’s only beachfront bar and restaurant. Enjoy relaxed vibes, great music, and easygoing eats. Your go-to place for sun-soaked days and relaxed nights by the beach.
The oceanfront Folly Beach County Park welcomes all to hang out—or hang ten, too. Rent a chair, umbrella or boogie board, or pack a picnic, and you’re set for the day. Other nature-lovers will perhaps head Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve of shore, marshland and maritime forest for a mix of Carolina habitat and Civil War history, not to mention some prime birding, too.
